Universal Binary Test Build Available

I’m really sorry PathSnagger isn’t working on Intel Macs. I’m trying to get it done soon. For various reasons, the computer has been offline and I haven’t had much time to do any work on it.

For those of you who absolutely can’t wait, there is a Universal binary version available, although I can’t guarantee its stability. I’ve had a couple of people test it on their Intel Macs, and it worked, but that’s about the best I can do (unless someone wants to donate a MacBook to the cause .. ) It has a number of new features that haven’t really been turned on (ie, the UI is there, but the functionality is not.) So yes, it says something about automatically updating and Windows paths and some other goodies, but it won’t work! There, I warned you.

That said, all the old functionality should be there. So if you’re feeling brave, download the Universal Binary build and let me know how it works for you.

Nice! I was a big fan on PPC and now I can use PathSnagger again on my MacBook Pro (works great on 10.5.2).

An awesome additional feature would be the ability to toggle whether the snagged path is quoted or not by holding down the Option key.

Great job, work well on 10.5.4 / Intel based.

For the next release, can you make it working with latin characters like “à é è ö…” ? It seems that paths aren’t copied to clipboard with such filenames.

    Thanks a lot

thanks for the email about the universal binary version. i upgraded the files in library and pref pane painlessly and it works great on my 2 x 2.8 GHz quad-core intel xeon mac running OSX 10.5.6.

Works great on my Macbook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 10.5.7.

    Thanks for the good work.

While this works (Intel, 10.5.7), I need something to get the full path from server items. The result path needs to be something like: afp://123.123.123.123/Archives/myfolder
Unfortunately, PathSnagger, nor Terminal drag, or other AppleScripts (MacOSXhints.com) doesn’t do this.

Works perfectly. I use this on all my Macs, at work and at home. Thanks for the Intel version!

Quick addendum, on a fresh 10.5.7 install, I had to manually copy the prefpane to ~/Library/PreferencePanes. Double clicking the prefpane to install did actually install it but then an error occurs “Cannot launch”. So copy it manually. Thanks again!

is it possible for you to add a “prefix” to the copy like in filepathCM?

for instance when I copy a file from our server the copy looks like this:
    \\BBI\Dept-Marketing\Public\web_player_13\review.jpg

I need it to look like this:
    \\filer01\BBI\Dept-Marketing\Public\web_player_13\review.jpg

just wondering if there is any way to accomplish this?

Oh no! Doesn’t work in Snow Leopard! I NEED this plug-in, I use it all the time, do you know how long it will take to get a new version out?

Cool tool – I had “CopyPathToClipboard” under Windows and this is the (almost) perfect replacement in my post-windoze-era :). One thing I’m really missing: Support for unicode characters. Filenames with german characters Ä, Ö, Ãœ are ignored.
Anyways a great helper, especially the options for win, hfs and unix style paths – this is a must in mixed environments 🙂

Any chance there will be a working update to this for Snow Leopard? It would be an incredibly useful tool for me…
